To mark the publication of a new Polish translation of “The Life You Can Save”, the Effective Altruism Foundation (Fundacja Efektywnego Altruizmu) is organising a series of events devoted to the idea of effective giving. The new edition, based on the expanded 10th-anniversary edition of 2019, is a way of spreading the idea of effective philanthropy in Poland.
“What does it mean to help effectively?” A meeting on Peter Singer’s book “The Life You Can Save”
Is helping others a moral duty or a voluntary gesture? How can we make the best use of our resources to help effectively? During an interactive discussion organised by Wrocław’s Effective Altruism community, we will explore the key issues raised in Singer’s book:
– An introduction to the idea of effective philanthropy.
– A discussion of the moral dilemmas of helping.
– An analysis of myths about charity.
– Practical ways of helping that you can put into practice straight away.
As part of this initiative, the foundation is offering the e-book as a free download: download link.
