Everyone is welcome to join the monthly meetings of the Ukrainian Book Club, where we discover and explore a wide range of literature.
Meeting details
When? 9 May, at 17:00
Where? Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu), ul. Świdnicka 19.
Free admission, no registration required!
Book of the month: “What’s Cooking in the Kremlin” (Polish title: “Rosja od kuchni. Jak zbudować imperium nożem, chochlą i widelcem”) by Witold Szabłowski. Above all, however, the book is about how food can serve propaganda – and how everything that citizens of the Soviet Union ate, whatever their position, shaped state policy.
We will keep you posted about future meeting dates!
About the club
The Ukrainian Book Club was founded at the end of 2021 by three Ukrainian writers: Yaroslava Lytvyn, Anna Demina and Larysa Rudak. They were later joined by another writer, Jana-Maria Kushnerova. Since September 2023, the meetings have been held at the Passage of Dialogue.
We read and discuss contemporary and classic prose, both Ukrainian and foreign. What we read is up to you, as participants themselves suggest the books for discussion.
The meetings are held in Ukrainian, so they are a great opportunity for anyone living in a Polish-speaking environment to brush up on their Ukrainian.
