Join us for a special event – the presentation of a book of documentary stories, “24 Stories That Began on 24 February”, organised by the Ukrainian Book Club.
It is a moving book about civilian heroines and heroes whose lives were irreversibly changed after 24 February 2022 – from a mother taking her child out of Bucha to a doctor who became the only surgical urologist in Donbas. Every story is authentic, honest, painful and deeply human.
The programme includes:
– a talk by the author of the project and the book, Olha Kazantseva,
– an appearance by one of the women featured in the book,
– a conversation with the literary editors Svitlana Vertola, Anna Domia and Larysa Rudak,
– a behind-the-scenes video on the making of the book,
– a book signing.

About the club
The “Ukrainian Book Club” was founded at the end of 2021 by three Ukrainian writers: Yaroslava Lytvyn, Anna Demina and Larysa Rudak. They were later joined by another writer, Jana-Maria Kushnerova. Since September 2023 the meetings have been held at the Passage of Dialogue. We read and discuss contemporary and classic Ukrainian and international prose. What we read is up to each of you, as participants themselves suggest the books for discussion.
We communicate in Ukrainian, so it is a great opportunity for anyone living in a Polish-speaking environment to brush up on their Ukrainian.
