We warmly invite you to psychological first aid training, which will take place at the Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu) in Wrocław (the Świdnicka underpass). The workshops will focus on the basic principles and methods of offering support to people with experience of migration or displacement who are at risk of a mental health crisis.
A helping hand from a teacher, a neighbour or a colleague at work at a time of stress or “at a crossroads in life” can work wonders. This also applies to people who have lived through war and forced displacement. Today, on our housing estates, in schools and in public offices, we are in direct contact with people in crisis because of war and migration. Psychological first aid is a form of psychosocial support which, in such situations, can often help to prevent more serious psychological consequences later on.
Psychological First Aid makes it easier to respond wisely in a crisis and helps you support people in need while also looking after your own mental wellbeing.
During the training you will learn:
• How does a person in crisis function?
• What is psychological first aid, and what is it not?
• Which techniques help to restore psychological balance?
• How can you help wisely while also taking care of yourself?
The training will be delivered by a team of trainers who have completed specialist courses run by International Medical Corps. Sessions will be held in both Polish and Ukrainian (choose a date from the schedule below).
