Wrocław is home to many inspiring figures connected with multiculturalism, as well as plenty of fascinating and surprising stories! On our journey through cultural diversity, we will travel for a moment to the Mediterranean to draw inspiration from the tradition of votive trees. This tradition is found where three continents meet – Europe, Asia and Africa – regardless of the local people’s religion, because it connects the material and the spiritual in a remarkable way, much like the tree itself, whose symbolism touches on the bond between earth and heaven.
Requests, dreams and prayers (known as votive offerings) are written on scraps of fabric and tied to the branches. This tradition will inspire us to seek out quotations and profound thoughts from people connected with multiculturalism, and then to hang them together on a tree next to Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu). As part of the event, open workshops for local residents will be held at Local Activity Centres.
