What Should Wrocław’s Intercultural Policy Look Like? – Public Consultation #przejscie_poleca

In recent years Wrocław has become a new home for many people of diverse backgrounds. This calls for action to build a community that takes into account the cultural diversity of its residents. That is why we, the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS), are presenting the draft Wrocław Intercultural Policy for 2027-2031.

In a public consultation organised jointly with the Foundation for European Studies (FEPS) and the Department of Social Participation of Wrocław City Hall, we are asking residents for their views on the draft document. We want to hear the suggestions and opinions of the people of Wrocław, including migrants, so that the document responds to the real needs and challenges of a diverse community.

The intercultural policy is intended to set the direction for building Wrocław’s community. We want it to live in mutual respect regardless of origin, cultural identity, language and religion. We want every resident to feel at home in our shared city, with the same rights and responsibilities.

The planned measures focus, among other things, on ensuring access to public services and strengthening integration processes. Neighbourhood communities and schools are given a special role. Wide-ranging cooperation in this area will also be an important part of preventing intercultural conflict and discrimination.

Scope of the document

The draft Wrocław Intercultural Policy 2027-31 covers the following key areas:

– intercultural cooperation and communication,
– challenges in collecting data on migration,
– intercultural education and integration of children and young people,
– integration within local communities and the participation of migrants in cultural life,
– preventing and resolving conflicts,
– countering discrimination, hate speech and disinformation,
– supporting newcomers in adapting, participating in society and becoming self-reliant,
– access to public services and employment activation,
– building social resilience, including resilience to crises.
