Book of the month: Olga Tokarczuk’s novel “The Empusium” – it reveals universal truths about the world around us. The story is set in the early years of the 20th century in a health resort in Lower Silesia. Olga Tokarczuk follows the protagonist, Mieczysław Wojnicz, who is struggling with a death sentence – pulmonary tuberculosis.

We will keep you posted about future meeting dates!

About the club

The “Ukrainian Book Club” was founded at the end of 2021 by three Ukrainian writers: Yaroslava Lytvyn, Anna Demina and Larysa Rudak. They were later joined by another writer, Jana-Maria Kushnerova. Since September 2023, the meetings have been held at Passage of Dialogue. We read and discuss contemporary and classic prose, both Ukrainian and foreign. What we read is up to you, as participants suggest the books for discussion themselves.

We speak Ukrainian, so it is a great opportunity for anyone living in a Polish-speaking environment to brush up on their Ukrainian.
