Do you remember the “Social Laboratory: Courtyard Culture”, an initiative run by the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS) together with the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Wrocław?
The time has come to sum it up and present the research findings! Join us on 30 October at 17:00 at Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu)!
During the summer semester, students of the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Wrocław, under the supervision of Prof. Katarzyna Majbroda, studied courtyard culture in the context of migrants – Wrocław’s new residents. As part of their coursework, the students carried out fieldwork and met practitioners of community work at Passage of Dialogue and at our community partners.
Together, we set research goals that included:
– mapping and analysing the differences and similarities between the ways courtyards are co-created and used, and the activities associated with them, in Wrocław and in the home towns of people with experience of migration and displacement;
– describing new patterns of behaviour in Wrocław’s courtyards and playgrounds that emerge from interactions between Wrocław residents and people arriving in the city from Ukraine.
