9.06 | Author meeting with Monika Raspen

Join us for a meeting with Monika Raspen – author of acclaimed historical novels such as “Czartoryska. Historia o marzycielce” (Czartoryska: The Story of a Dreamer) and “Babel. Pocałunek śmierci” (Babel: The Kiss of Death). The event will take place on Monday 9 June 2025 at 18:00 at the Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu), ul. Świdnicka 19, Wrocław.

During the meeting the author will talk about her historical inspirations and about the process of writing novels that combine in-depth archival research with literary imagination. In a conversation hosted by Magdalena Gursztyn and Adrian Kiełczewski, participants will have the chance to learn about the writer’s research methods and to reflect on the role of the historical novel in contemporary literature and culture.

The main part will be followed by an open discussion and questions from the audience, so the meeting will be not only an opportunity to get to know Monika Raspen’s craft and work, but also to exchange thoughts and reflections on history and literature.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Prof. Tadeusz Żabski Student Research Group of 19th-Century Enthusiasts and the Young Critics Student Research Group, both based at the University of Wrocław.

Admission is free. We warmly invite everyone who loves literature, history and interesting cultural events.
