Join us for a meeting devoted to the very possibility of dialogue – especially in a world full of differences and tensions. As our starting point, we will set two contrasting perspectives side by side: that of Jürgen Habermas, who stresses the importance of a rational space for reaching understanding, and that of Chantal Mouffe, who points to the ineradicable nature of conflict in social life.
– Is dialogue across divides possible?
– Do we have to agree in order to talk?
– Does conflict destroy dialogue, or is it an inherent part of it?
We will consider all these questions and many more during the open discussion. It is an opportunity to reflect on how we talk to one another – and whether we are able to hear each other at all.

Philosophical Survival School: about the project
The “Philosophical Survival School” is a series of open discussions, debates and lectures created by the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS) in cooperation with the Applied Philosophy Student Research Group at the University of Wrocław. The third edition of the series begins on 17 April and will explore questions in the philosophy of science, the philosophy of yoga, rhetoric in the media, Władysław Tatarkiewicz’s theory of happiness and philosophical interpretations of computer games. The initiative is aimed at everyone who seeks philosophical sensitivity in getting to know themselves and the world around them, and who would also like to share their own experience.
