We invite you to a workshop in traditional Ukrainian Petrykivka painting – a folk art inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Participants will learn about the history of this unique technique and create their own piece featuring the distinctive “kucheriavka” flower on thick paper, which they can take home and frame.
The workshop leader will talk about the tradition of Petrykivka painting and demonstrate the tools and technique. Participants will also have the chance to try painting with a special handmade brush made of cat hair – the so-called “kitten” brush (Ukrainian “kotiachka”), one of the most important tools of this art.
The workshop will be led by Natalia Medianyk – an artist who for more than 5 years has been developing work inspired by Petrykivka painting, combining tradition with a modern outlook.
When? 25 August, 17:30
Where? the Passage of Dialogue (Przejście Dialogu), ul. Świdnicka 10 (right next to the Świdnicka underpass).
