Should knowledge be available to everyone, or protected by copyright as the creator’s property? Part of the hacker community believes that sharing paywalled or restricted publications serves the good of humanity. Others stress that authors have the right to benefit from their work. Which of these rights matters more?
We invite you to the fifth meeting of the second season of the “Philosophical Survival School” – “Info-anarchism – the morality of hacking and access to academic sources”, where we will talk about the ethical and legal aspects of intellectual property, access to knowledge and the consequences of different approaches to the issue. Please note: the discussion is educational in nature, and all positions presented serve educational purposes only. The research group does not encourage any unlawful activity (Article 255 of the Polish Criminal Code). Join the conversation and share your thoughts!

The Philosophical Survival School: about the project
The “Philosophical Survival School” is a series of open discussions, debates and lectures created by the Wrocław Centre for Social Development (WCRS) in cooperation with the Applied Philosophy Student Research Group at the University of Wrocław. The second edition of the series begins on 11 April and will explore questions of ethics, art, anarchism and the environment. It is for everyone who wants to look at the world through the lens of philosophy – an initiative for all those who seek a philosophical sensitivity in getting to know themselves and the world around them, and who want to share their own experience.
