Philosophical Survival School: “Pop-Stoicism” – a Useful Phenomenon or the Decline of Philosophy?

Filozoficzna Szkoła Przetrwania: "Pop-stoicyzm" - użyteczne zjawisko czy upadek filozofii?"

Join us for the first open discussion in the “Philosophical Survival School” series, in which we will take a critical look at the phenomenon of “pop-Stoicism” – short mass-media formats promoting a modern version of Stoicism. Many aspects of the topic are controversial, for example the format itself or the credentials of those who promote “pop-Stoicism”.

– What exactly is this phenomenon?
– A dumbing-down of philosophy? Does pop-Stoicism really flatten the profound principles of the ancient school?
– A sign of social progress? Do you see this phenomenon as a sign of an improving quality of life for individuals in society?
– Stoicism vs. Epicureanism: Why has Stoicism become so popular today, rather than, say, Epicureanism? Is this preference rooted in contemporary social challenges?

We will consider all these questions and many more during the open discussion. Join us to share your insights, hear different perspectives and explore the differences between authentic Stoicism and its modern interpretations.
